Schedule:
Prior to leaving: One or two meetings for orientation & presentation. Specific websites and a questionnaire will be handed out which must be completed before leaving.
Day One (5/8) Chicago/Beijing
Take BSU bus in front of NQ, south door, at 7:00am to Indy Airport, and take the airplane to
Chicago at 10:41 am. Departure from Chicago for Beijing. Cross International Date Line.
In-flight-meals.
Day Two (5/9) Beijing
Arrive in Beijing in the afternoon, meet our tour guide, and transfer to our hotel. Dinner with
famous Peking Duck（北京烤鸭）.
Day Three (5/10) Beijing
Visit the Imperial Palace and the Tian’anmen Square in the Morning, attend a local wedding
at 11:00 am and have a formal wedding banquet at noon, in the afternoon, visit the Temple of
Heaven, and a traditional Chinese drug store (同仁堂) and Liulichang (a street with all kinds
of antique store).
Day Four (5/11) Beijing
The highlight today is an excursion to the Great Wall (cable car) and later visit the Changling
Imperial Tomb. We will also visit a jade market. After dinner, enjoy a traditional Peking
Opera show in the evening.
Day Five (5/12) Beijing
Today we will have an excursion to a village in the countryside to experience a farmer’s life for
one day. We will see a real village life and have lunch in the country style.
Day Six (5/13) Beijing/Xi’an
This morning we will visit the Summer Palace and Yonghe Palace. Visit the houses in the
courtyards in the old Hutongs (Back-alleys), which is the ancient style house in old Beijing.
Have lunch and chat with a local family. Visit a silk factory. Take an express train with soft
beds in a cabin to Xi’an.
Day Seven (5/14) Beijing/ Xi’an
Arrive in Xi’an in the early morning and transfer to the hotel. Visit the fountain Square of Xi’an,
the famous Great Wild Goose Pagoda. the ancient city walls (the only complete city walls left
in China), the Clock Drum tower Square, and Shansi History Museum. After dinner, watch the
Song and Dance Show in Tang Dynasty style.

Day Eight (5/15) Xi’an
Visit the Tera-cotta Warriors and Horses from Qin Dynasty, Huaching Hot Spring from Tang
Dynasty. Tonight’s dinner is the famous Dumplings Banquet (饺子宴)
Day Nine (5/16) Xi’an/Guilin
Take an early flight (HU 7729 0740/0930) to Guilin. Visit the Reed Flute Cave, Fubo
Hill, and the city of Gulin..
Day Ten (5/17) Gulin
Travel to Yangsuo, a small town with beautiful scenes of mountains, and enjoy the
beautiful water and mountain reflections of the Lijiang River We will the Elephant Trunk Hill.
Day Eleven (5/18) Guilin/Shanghai
After breakfast, we will fly to Shanghai (CZ 3251 11:20/13:20). Arrive in Shanghai. In the
afternoon, visit the famous Nanjing Road, which is a good place for shopping, too. Some
activities with Chinese students in Shanghai Normal University in the evening.
Day Twelve (5/19) Guilin/Shanghai
You will experience a Chinese student’s college life in Shanghai Normal University. You will be
a college student in the morning, and to be an ESL instructor in the afternoon. You will also
play some games with the students there.
Day Thirteen (5/20) Shanghai
In the morning,visit the out beach of the Huangpo River, visit the Oriental Peal TV Tower.
In the afternoon, visit the Old city of Shanghai and YuYuan Garden.
Day Fourteen (5/21) Shanghai/ Chicago
In the morning, visit the Longhua Temple. After lunch, we will go to Shanghai Airport to leave
for our flight back to USA. You will gain 13 hours, allowing us to arrive in Chicago on the
same day we said good-bye to China. The scheduled BSU bus will pick us at Indianapolis Airport at
9:25pm. We will be back on BSU campus by 11:00pmin front of NQ, south door.
